Privacy Policy for eriebar.org

Welcome to the Bar Association of Erie County (“BAEC”) website. The following paragraphs disclose our information gathering and dissemination practices. This privacy statement may change at any time; any changes will be posted on this page.

Privacy

The BAEC is committed to the online privacy of its web site visitors and recognizes the need for appropriate protection and management of any personally identifiable information.

Personal Information means any information that may be used to identify an individual, including, but not limited to, a first and last name, a home or other physical address and an email address or other contact information, whether at work or at home.

The BAEC strives to comply with all applicable laws around the globe that are designed to protect a visitor’s privacy. The BAEC’s goal is to provide protection for a visitor’s personal information no matter where that information is collected, transferred, or retained.

If you choose to provide the BAEC with personal information on the Web, the BAEC may transfer that information within the BAEC or to a third-party service provider, across borders, and from your country or jurisdiction to other countries or jurisdictions around the world. Your email address will only be used within the BAEC and its affiliates.

We do not sell, rent or distribute e-mail addresses to anyone outside the BAEC; however, the BAEC’s Lawyer Referral & Information Service (“LRIS”) does provide a LRIS members attorney’s office email address to a referred client who requests it or who contacts LRIS from another country or continent. If you wish to be removed from our email mailings, please contact our office at baec@eriebar.org or 716.852.8687.

Third Party Services

Third parties provide certain services available on the BAEC website on the BAEC’s behalf. The BAEC may provide information, including personal information, that the BAEC collects on the web to third-party service providers to help the BAEC deliver programs, products, information, and services. Service providers are also an important means by which the BAEC maintains its website. The BAEC will take reasonable steps to ensure that these third-party service providers are obligated to protect personal information on BAEC’s behalf.

The BAEC does not intend to transfer personal information without a visitor’s consent to third parties who are not bound to act on BAEC’s behalf unless such transfer is legally required.

Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies

Some of the BAEC’s web pages use “cookies” and other tracking technologies. A “cookie” is a small text file that may be used, for example, to collect information about website activity. Some cookies and other technologies may serve to recall personal information previously indicated by a website visitor. Most browsers allow a visitor to control cookies, including whether or not to accept them and how to remove them.

Visitors may set most browsers to notify them if they receive a cookie, or a visitor may choose to block cookies with their browser. Please note that if you choose to erase or block your cookies, you will need to re-enter your original visitor ID and password to gain access to certain parts of the BAEC website.

Tracking technologies may record information such as Internet domain and host names; Internet protocol (IP) addresses; browser software and operating system types; clickstream patterns; and dates and times that the BAEC site is accessed. The BAEC’s use of cookies and other tracking technologies allows the BAEC to improve its website by enabling it to analyze information that does not contain personal information for trends and statistics.
