New York Courts Emergency Alerts Discontinues Twitter Presence

The New York Courts have discontinued the use of Twitter as the communication tool for emergency alerts. Commencing May 1, the Courts are sending out emergency alerts solely through the Portal . Accordingly, to receive emergency notifications, attorneys should register for the Portal by that date at: www.nycourts.gov/alerts/. (We are pleased to report that almost 19,000 individuals have done so already.) UCS Twitter accounts providing general court information and news will continue unabated (http://ww2.nycourts.gov/social/twitter.shtml).

As a reminder, the Portal is hosted by NY Alert, a state public notification platform with a well-established record of reliable performance, which allows users to choose the counties that they want to receive information from, as well as the method in which they receive alerts (text, phone and/or email). Feedback about this new alert system, received over many months, has been exceedingly positive.

If you have any questions about the Portal, please contact Barbara Zahler-Gringer at: NYCourtAlert@nycourts.gov.
