Q: What is Ahrens Bar Association Marketplace?
A: Since 1962, Ahrens Financial Group has been serving the needs of Bar Association members. In 2015, we introduced the Ahrens Bar Association Marketplace, a multi-carrier private exchange designed for Bar Association of Erie County and Monroe County Bar Association members. Available to both individuals, employer groups of all sizes, and Medicare members, the Ahrens Bar Association Marketplace offers a wide range of health insurance choices and more.
Applying through the Ahrens Bar Association Marketplace place allows for you to shop and compare your carriers in the private market designed exclusively for Bar members, their families and employees. You will have access to licensed benefits counselors that have your individual and firm needs in mind. You are also able to enroll in other select benefits such as: dental, vision, group hospital, critical illness and accident at the same time as your medical enrollment. This creates a one-stop shop for all your benefit needs. Your benefit elections are held in your private portal account where you can log back in and view your benefits any time during the year.
Q: What are the important dates for enrolling in 2021 coverage?
- November 9, 2020: Open Enrollment begins
- November 20, 2020: Last day to enroll in or change plans for new coverage to start January 1, 2021

Q: Does Ahrens Bar Marketplace Offer Medicare Advantage Plans For Those Over Age 65?
A: Yes! For the 2021 plan year we will be adding 2 new plans in 2021 bringing our total plan offerings to 14 Blue Cross and Blue Shield of WNY and Independent Health Medicare plans for our members and their spouses. Many of these plans are exclusive and not available on the individual marketplace.
Q: Will My Benefits Automatically Renew?
A: Yes! Current member benefits will automatically renew for 2021. New plans are being introduced and we encourage everyone to log in and review all new medical offerings
