Dated: March 16, 2020
MEMO FROM JUSTICE SLISZ:
Due to the restrictions now in place in response to COVID-19 (coronavirus), all scheduled conferences and court appearances are hereby adjourned until further notice. The Court will be closed as of 5:00 p.m. on March 16, 2020. The Court will have limited services available (see below). All information will be posted to the New York Courts website. Please check there for information as my staff is not permitted to work during this time.
Any motions scheduled will be rescheduled for a new special term date once the restrictions are lifted.
Any hearings or trials are also adjourned and will be rescheduled once restrictions are lifted.
No judgment rolls will be processed at this time, nor will any clerks be available at Expedited Matrimonial for pick up of documents.
The only exceptions to the restrictions that are applicable to Part 25 are mental hygiene and matrimonial proceedings wherein an order of protection is due to expire before April 30, 2020 or there is a request for a TRO. I will personally be handling my mental hygiene cases as scheduled. Please check with the Clerk of the Court (not Erie County Clerk) 716-845-9301 as to where you ae to report for those mental hygiene matters.
There will be an emergency judge available every day for all courts. Again, contact the Clerk of the Court to determine where you are to report for emergency matters or to extend Orders of Protection. Please bring a copy of the existing Order of Protection as well as the Protective Registry Information Sheet with you to extend them. The sheet is available with the forms on my rules of court.
All emails that you send must be sent on notice to opposing counsel and to all of the following court addresses: mslisz@nycourts.gov; ajmurphy@nycourts.gov; pbenson@nycourts.gov. They, along with all documents mailed to the court, will be reviewed when we are authorized to return to session.
