Eighth Judicial District Administrative Judge Paula L. Feroleto announces Erie County Family Court will commemorate National Adoption Day on November 20, 2020. The event coordinated by Hon. Kevin Carter, Supervising Judge of the Family Courts of the Eighth Judicial District, will serve to raise awareness by bringing a special focus on children in foster care who are in need of adoption. Each year there are thousands of children, parents, and families, who participate nationally in adoptions to pave the way for new beginnings and provide children with a “forever family” who can help them reach their full potential. Our own Western New York Community has hundreds of children in foster care in need of living in permanent, loving, stable and healthy homes.
This year, three family court judges will preside over the adoptions of 10 children currently in foster care. Hon. Margaret Szczur will preside over the adoptions of 2 children at 9:30 a.m. and 3 children at 10:00 a.m. in virtual court proceedings. Hon. Sharon LoVallo will preside over the adoption of 1 child at 10:30 a.m. and 2 children at 12:00 p.m. in virtual court proceedings. Hon. Deanne Tripi will preside over the adoption of 1 child at 10:00 a.m. and 1 child at 11:00 a.m. in an in-person court proceeding conducted at the historic Erie County Surrogate’s Court Courtroom in Old County Hall, 92 Franklin Street, Second Floor, Buffalo, New York.
Judge Carter stated, “We are most grateful that even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, we can help provide a voice for the children in need in our community. Our goal is to permanently unite these children with warm loving families who cherish nurturing their children and helping them grow to achieve their full potential.”
