Membership Options

We have a number of options for members, depending on your employment status, location, and other factors.

Active Member

To join as an Active Member one must be a member of the Bar of the State of New York who resides or has an office in Erie County.

Contributing Member

To join as a Contributing Member one must be a member of the Bar of the State of New York who resides or has an office in Erie County. A Contributing Member shall be entitled to all the rights and privileges of an Active Member and his/her name is published in our monthly publication, The Bulletin.

Life Member

To join as a Life Member one must be a member of the Bar of the State of New York who resides or has an office in Erie County. Life members pay a lump sum in lieu of all future dues. Life members shall be entitled to all of the rights and privileges of an Active Member.

Associate Member

To join as an Associate Member one must be a member of the Bar of the State of New York who does not reside or have an office in Erie County, and any member of the Bar of any other State, or of the District of Columbia, or of the United States, or of any foreign jurisdiction, who is not also a member of the Bar of the State of New York, shall become an Associate Member. Associate Members shall not be entitled to vote but shall have all other privileges of Active Membership.

Affiliate Member

To join as an Affiliate Member one must be (i) employed as an office administrator or paralegal by any attorney or law firm in Erie County, (ii) a law school graduate, not eligible to be an Associate Member. Affiliate Members shall not be entitled to vote but shall have all other privileges of Active Membership to the extent such privileges are not restricted by law or contract to admitted attorneys. No Affiliate Member shall be eligible to serve as a director, officer or chair of any committee of the Association.

Student Member

To join as a student member one must be enrolled in law school. Student members shall not be entitled to vote but shall have all other privileges of Active Membership to the extent such privileges are not restricted by law or contract to admitted attorneys.

Retired Member

Retired members are members who have retired from active employment and are no longer engaged in the practice of law. Dues are discounted for our retired members. You must certify that you are retired from practice to be eligible for this membership level.
