BAEC Face Mask Campaign

Our community needs to protect itself during this time, and the BAEC wants to help.  So, we are partnering with the Westminster Economic Development Initiative (“WEDI”) and Grassroots Garden to get 100 face masks to those who may not otherwise be able to afford them.  We are asking our members to join in this effort by either making a face mask (it’s not that bad – we promise) or purchasing a face mask for donation.

Our goal is to have 100 masks for distribution by June 30.  And to foster connection, collegiality, and mask-making between our members, we are going to have two virtual happy hours, where we can catch up, make masks together, and hear about the great work being done by WEDI and Grassroots Garden in our community.  The first happy hour will be on May 26 at 5:30 pm and the second will be on June 2 at 5:30 pm.  Event details can be found below. We ask that you register for the happy hour so we have an idea how many people to expect!

The three members who make the most masks will get twelve (12) free CLE credit hours from the BAEC!

Special thanks to Daniel C. Oliverio at Hodgson Russ for his generosity in purchasing the filters for the masks, which will be distributed along with the masks by WEDI and Grassroots Garden.

Join us for Happy Hour!

We are hosting 2 virtual happy hours for this campaign. Grab a drink, dial in, and hang out with us as we make masks, chat, and decompress a little from our hectic worlds. Please register so we know who to expect to join!

Making a Face Mask

Making a face mask isn’t too difficult! Here are some resources we’re tapping into for this project.

Getting Supplies

Here are the supplies you need with some links to purchase them!

Note: JoAnn Fabric has curbside pick-up for online orders.

Dropping Off Your Face Mask

The drop-off for the masks will be at the Westside Bazaar on 25 Grant Street (which is open from Tuesday to Friday from 11 am – 7 pm).  Please put the masks in your trunk and call Bob Doyle at 716-491-2331 when you arrive.  Someone will pick up the masks directly from your trunk to ensure everyone’s safety.

Can't Make or Purchase a Mask? Donate Funds Towards PPE

We are also accepting monetary donations for this campaign! If you’re unable to make or purchase masks, please consider donating money to the cause. 100% of your donation will go towards the purchase of masks for our medical and other essential workers.
