The Niagara County District Attorney’s office is seeking a qualified prosecutor to join a team of 24 lawyers. The Office has a long-standing reputation within the community of being dedicated to serving justice and improving community safety. Position: Assistant District Attorney (Fulltime)

Salary: $60-100k Varies based on experience

Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from law school AND current registration with the New York State Bar at the time of appointment and for the duration of employment with Niagara County

Residency: Must reside in Niagara County, NY within 12 months of appointment

Job Description:

  • Prepares and prosecutes criminal cases as assigned by the District Attorney and presents cases to the Grand Jury
  • Tries both jury and non-jury cases before municipal courts as well as assists the District Attorney in conducting trials in the County and Supreme Court.
  • Assists with complex trials and violent felonies when needed
  • Conducts preliminary hearings and suppression hearings on felony cases
  • Collaborates with law enforcement officers, interviews witnesses; may assist in the preparation and execution of search warrants; may participate in investigations involving advanced legal complexity
  • Confers with probation officers and with all levels of law enforcement to help insure proper law enforcement throughout Niagara County
