The Role of Caregivers in Successful Aging
Product Code: 2215
Presented on October 30, 2013
1.5 CLE credits: 1.0 Areas of Professional Practice, 0.5 Skills
An estimated 10 million Americans are considered to be part of the “Sandwich Generation” — taking care of children and their aging parents at the same time. The cost to individuals can be high in terms of increased stress and negative implications on their jobs and personal lives. The costs are also high for employers: US businesses have lost between $11.4 billion and $29 billion in retention, absenteeism and productivity due to elder care giving.
Many caregivers are unaware of the options available to plan for the legal, financial and healthcare needs of their loved ones that can help them manage their caregiver roles more effectively.
Charles Beinhauer is a senior partner in the law firm Pfalzgraf, Beinhauer & Menzies, the only law firm in Western New York focused solely on elder care and age-related planning. Charles shares valuable information about issues of concern to many seniors and their caregivers to help reduce stress, worry and lost productivity that results from caring for elderly family members including:
• Do my loved ones have the right plan for their future needs?
• Do they have the right documents to carry out their wishes?
• How can my loved ones plan to stay in their home? If remaining at home is not possible, what are other options?
• How much will it cost for care?
Participants will receive an overview of the information and documents necessary to put together a successful plan and learn about the various levels of care, how much they cost, and who will pay for them.
