Just as we honor the tradition and right of peaceful protest to advance justice, the Bar Association of Erie County honors and advocates for the Rule of Law, a principle central to our democracy and to the fair and equitable treatment of all peoples. We condemn in the strongest possible terms the violent attack on our nation’s Capitol on January 6th and on this country’s Constitution. We call on our members to advance the Rule of Law in all they do and to work to restore faith in our government and electoral system. We urge all to listen with humility to heal this nation’s wounds, and we applaud Congress for completing its Constitutional duties in the face of this unprecedented domestic attack.
