Senior Compliance Analyst - Regulatory and Policy

Role
The Senior Compliance Analyst will be part of the Political Activities group, which monitors Citi employees’ compliance with industry rules and federal, state, and local laws regarding political contributions, gifts and entertainment provided to U.S. public officials, procurement lobbying, and other types of interactions with U.S. public officials.

Secondarily, the group manages Citi’s Gifts and Entertainment (“G&E”) Policy, and provides advisory support to compliance colleagues and employees across the organization.  The group plays a lead role in a long-term project to implement a global G&E pre-approval system.

Responsibilities

  • Advise employees on applicable regulations and Citi’s Political Activities policy
  • Review requests by employees to make personal political contributions, and approve or deny based on applicable laws, rules and regulations
  • Assess requests by Citi employees to provide gifts, meals or entertainment to public officials, reviewing for compliance with federal, state, and local laws
  • Work with various business units to identify employees involved in specific, regulated activities and provide related training
  • Draft policies, procedures, and supporting materials, and coordinate with relevant stakeholders on implementation
  • Develop presentations for senior management; create and deliver training to targeted employee groups; issue periodic communications regarding political activities policy
  • Liaise with audit and testing teams, business compliance officers, and  information technology on political activities issues
  • Advise on the application of the Citi Gifts and Entertainment policy and ICG procedures; participate in the development and implementation of a global automated system
  • Complete special projects as needed to comply with new laws; to further develop the Political Activities unit; and in support of Regulatory Compliance initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Compliance, risk management, legal or regulatory background preferred, ideally in a financial services organization
  • Ability to read, understand, apply and explain relevant laws, rules, regulations and policies
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, writing and speaking skills
  • Ability to examine current processes/methods and identify areas for improvement
  • Demonstrated work ethic, capable of disciplined self-motivation and commitment to the highest standards of professional integrity, maturity and judgment
  • High degree of professionalism and ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees
  • Strong software proficiency (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Proven ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines and respond to time-sensitive requests
  • Bachelors Degree required; JD or MBA preferred
